| The keeping room was the heart of the colonial home. It served many purposes including cooking, eating, socializing, and on a cold night, even sleeping. We’ve filled ours with Windsor chairs, a sack-back settle and a great farm table. All will be equally welcoming in your keeping room, dining room or kitchen.
Windsor chairs appeared in America around 1795 and quickly became the favorite at every level of society. Made with a combination of woods, Windsors were strong, light, comfortable and very durable. Painted in one of the three most popular colors of black, red or green, they were also relatively inexpensive.
Using maple for the turnings, oak for the backs and arms, hickory for the spindles and poplar for the seats, our joiner has created chairs with all of the attributes that made them an American favorite.
Our line of Windsor Furnishings feature a worn, distressed and crackled painted finish which replicates the antique original. Specify your choice of black, green and mustard, all over red, or red over black.
Windsors typically ship in 4-6 weeks. Our standard shipping chart now applies for all Windsors - 10% of the purchase price.
